Come add on to this language list!
In response to Yiwen’s blog about Bangla as a beautiful language, I’ve created a google file sharing document of a guide to Bangla and have added the gofar team as collaborators! (Please check your emails)
Sort of like a language list that hopefully can be helpful especially to student reporters in breaking the ice. I haven’t have lonely planet with me at the moment so those with it, please keep adding on to the guide!

Trivia 1: I was a bit confused by what’s the difference between Bengali and Bangla (the lang list would attempt to explain it), but I guess Bengali is to Bangla like Mandarin is to hua (2) yu (3). Pls correct me if i’m wrong
Trivia 2: Rabindranath Tagore’s Bengali name is actually Rabindranath Thakur, pronounced Robindronath Thakur
Trivia 3: If you want to hear some spoken Bengali, I think there are i-tunes mp3 available online. To get a feel from Bengali news broadcasts, try http://www.voa.gov/stream/bangla.html and http://www.bbc.co.uk/bengali/radio/aod/bengali_promo.shtml
