Jibika!

When they first mooted the word Jibika for our GOFAR 2009 publication, I thought it sounded catchy. Jibika jibika, eureka eureka. Hope this name sticks or people will still call future GOFAR publications Quintals – easier because its 2 syllables. Just food for thought.

A big shout out goes to everyone in the editorial team for making this happen. I think you can find the list inside the 2nd page of our magazine. Once the magazines arrived, everyone was pretty much hard at work – except for me.

First thing when I noticed about Jibika was how thick it is when it was in my hands. In this edition, I think everyone writes a substantial number of words. From the print journalists (obviously they had to write), the video team with their in-depth synopsis as well as the photojournalists who had significant text to accompany their photographs, all adds to the nice meaty value-for-money mag feeling.

It felt great to hold on to it, together with the great matte finish. What really rocked was seeing our hard work put neatly into a proper magazine for distribution as well as personal reading (not just text, but photographs and the videos as well)

Look at that dazzling smile by Ms Poon, our chief editor of Jibika. While packing, writing letters and packing it into the envelopes, she said: “I tell you, it was like giving birth!”

And Zeinab, one of the two subbers. “Hurry up Zak take, others are looking.” I thought isn’t that the whole point? Think Kash was still on Bangladesh time. (Was she travelling?)
